Update!! MuscleNerd says it safe!
Nothing too unsettling with that TaiG JB...just some light device fingerprinting. To see that, create an empty debuglog.cfg file next…

to the exe file. From then on, when you run the tool it'll log the urls accessed in a log/<timestamp>.log file.

The untether is much more transparent than Pangu (unobfuscated, and kernel is left open to inspection via "standard" task_for_pid0 patch)

TaiG (pronounced "Tai-G") is a Chinese hacker team/App Store that had a hand in the iOS 7 jailbreak by the Evad3rs team which caused some controversy in the community back in December of last year. Supposedly, they offered the Evad3rs a hefty sum of cash to include their App Store with the iOS 7 jailbreak. This was the cause of the controversy as TaiG has been closely linked to piracy in China. It seems as though the team is attempting to redeem itself in a way by releasing a public jailbreak for iOS 8.1.1, even though it's at a very weird time. The jailbreak uses three exploits to attain root access for installing Cydia, one of which is the same one Pangu learned from i0nic's exploit training classes, which Apple apparently hasn't fixed properly. We will update you with more information when it we get it though. As with all jailbreaks when they first drop, it's a good idea to stay away from this one for a few days to make sure respected members of the community can thoroughly check it to make sure it's safe for public use. If you want to throw caution to the wind and try it for yourself just go to their site or download it directly from Mega here.
Here are some tweets about it: MuscleNerd tweeted about it the other day and warns to stay away for a few days just in case. Here is the reddit thread.
Looks like TaiG just released a jailbreak for 8.1.1 (and 8.0,8.1,8.2beta). Best to wait a few days just in case http://t.co/792Vx6cJhF — MuscleNerd (@MuscleNerd) November 29, 2014
iH8sn0w is unsure if it's safe because it's "phoning home too much".
.@IRustii87 I’m not too sure. Its phoning wayyyy too much in my opinion. — iH8sn0w (@iH8sn0w) November 29, 2014
CoolStar mentions how it uses odd file formats and the untether package doesn't use dpkg. Here is the thread on reddit.
TaiG jailbreak appears rather interesting… corrupt/modified tar files & no untether package registered with dpkg… I’d stay on Pangu for now — CoolStar (@coolstarorg) November 29, 2014
